"Any Online Tool that is designed to help the user make a document or presentation should allow the end user save the document, else it renders useless"
I happened to read the Forbes Org Chart post in labnol blog, which is just a rubbish and useless tool to the end user. Looking at it as a tool to create a public company org chart, it is quite good, and it exploits the best of flash. Look at it from the end user angle, it is not any way comparable to the Google Docs & Spreadsheets, and is useless. The user can save and not share the document(org chart here) is a very foolish idea, though it can use the best of technologies. The user can save it online in the forbes site, in a flash formt only, and can share it with another user who needs to visit the site to check it out. An end user needs a document prepared and be used in his presentation or for a marketing pitch. I guess if the flash application allowed the user to save the Org Chart as a JPEG or at least a flash SWF file would have made more sense.
