"Google History is not a mandatory feature, it is strictly voluntary, you have to be logged in, in your Google account and sign-up for this feature(enroll) so that the Internet Giant will keep your data and records of every website you visit so you can access them easily at any time.."
Google search has an advanced "History" option, that will allow you to store your browser history to their servers. This is quite a consuming proposition compared to all the other features provided so far by Google and competitors. There used to be a period when the mail giants like Hotmail, Yahoo and AOL used to give storage space as little as 1MB which has grown to infinity, thanks to the tricky algorithms.
What exactly is Google History?
Google history is not a complicated feature to understand. If you knew, your browser always had a feature called "history" which will keep track of the places/URL's you visited. This is a helpful feature for the forgetful user who looses his way after a day or two. But if you look at it in the security angle, it is a bane. Say you use the computer in your school, office or a public internet cafe, then it reveals all the data that you have accessed. At least it reveals the address/URL you have visited in the past few weeks to months. Unsuspecting users would not clear the history and land in trouble some times.
Google History is a step ahead, it stores your history not in the local computer, but to a Google server. This means at one point of time, half the world would be using this feature fall prey, and be at the mercy of the Internet Giant Google. Well that is a fear that lurks in all our minds at least one point of time or the other. If you look at it in a positive angle, this is a boon. You have a history of all the web sites you visit from your computer or other computers(you being logged in) at a central point accessible at any point of time. That is a dream-come true wonderful feature, you travel for business or holiday, you have your history in hand.
This is not a mandatory feature, it is strictly voluntary, you have to be logged in, in your Google account and sign-up for this feature(enroll) so that the Internet Giant will keep your data and records of every website you visit so you can access them easily at any time.
We heard that 3 consumer groups have filed a complaint against Google's privacy practices with the FTC - Federal trade Commission last week. They were demanding investigation before approving the deal to acquire the controversial DoubleClick deal.
