HIBERNATING / SUSPENDING THE MACHINE FROM THE COMMAND LINE

Hibernating / Suspending the machine from the command line Within Windows 2000 and Windows XP there is no command (as such) to hibernate or suspend the workstation from the command line, however it can be achieved by calling an individual routine from within a DLL.

To hibernate / suspend the workstation from the command line:

Enter: rundll32 powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState Whether the workstation will hibernate or stand-by depends on the value of the "When I press the sleep button on my computer" setting found within the Power Options section of the Control Panel, and also on the power functionality available to your computer (ACPI).
