'RentACoder is a small time Online Market place that wants to match Elance.com and Guru.com'
On April the first attack was launched by some IP's from South Africa claims the website owner Ian. A second denial of service attack occurred against Rent a Coder on April 25th, which prevented access to the site. It was stopped by an upstream ISP in 15 minutes, as they are getting quicker at responding due to the previous attack.
"They will be increasing their vigilance for the future. If you have any information about the party behind these two attacks, we ask that you please send it to facilitator (at) rentacoder.com. South African users: Your ISP may be causing problems for you due to the 1st attack. Switching from http:// to https:// solves the problem...as well as switching to another ISP."
This was what Ian Ippolito had to say about the attack. Instead of spending on finding the culprit the creator of RAC has been begging his users to either stop the attack, or to email him of the culprits. This is the plight of the man who has made millions from the users of the site. It's high time he made a genuine effort to stop the DOS and make the site more genuine and more secure for the users. This attack should have sent shocks through the spine of every user who has invested time and energy on the website, and have earned penny by penny.
